Last night Shaun and I played an impromptu set at AJ’s Cafe as part of a open mic poetry jam put together by Organizing For America. I went in a couple of weeks ago to hang a poster and Sheila from OFA happened to be in there. They were discussing having a pianist play throughout the event. AJ suggested I play and I invited Shaun to play with me. Originally we thought we might be like a house band, playing bits of music between poets and came up with 18 pieces, each from 20 seconds to a minute long. But we ended up playing a set instead. Shaun tuned his guitar to AJ’s piano which was all sorts of flat. Dan showed up shortly after we finished and took this photo of us on our ways out. It was nice to squeeze one more show out of spring.
